Year 8 Students Compete in International Literature Quiz
Last week the Library staff entered two teams of Year 8 students in the West Midlands round of the 2019 Kids Lit’ Quiz.
The Kids' Lit Quiz is an annual literature quiz for students aged 10 - 13 years, with quizzes held in Australia, Canada, Hong Kong, New Zealand, Singapore, South Africa, United Kingdom Thailand, Nigeria, Indonesia and USA. The winning team from each heat competes in a National Final and the National champions then go on to compete in the World Final.
The quiz was founded by New Zealand quizmaster Wayne Mills, a University lecturer in Children’s Literature.
The students from Year 8 that took part were Zara Shah, Gracie Rolinson, Naeva Joby, Yulia Man, Katie Cottrell, Aaliyah Nawaz,
Simar Kaur and Eva Dhand, with Alisa Jaan and Elizabeth Pavlova as reserves.
Our teams competed against 18 other schools and did really well against some very tough competitors.
Both teams won prizes and Simar Kaur won an individual prize.
They all really enjoyed the experience.
