About Us

The Hub

“Pupils with special educational needs and/or disabilities (SEND) are involved in all aspects of school life…pupils with SEND achieve exceptionally well.” OFSTED, December 2023

Our Student Support Area, known as ‘The Hub’, is an inclusive space at the heart of our school. We are fortunate enough to have a dedicated classroom, three intervention rooms and a regulation room for our students to access. The Hub is staffed by a specialised team including the SENDCO, a Hub curriculum leader and teacher, three learning mentors, a pastoral manager of inclusion, an ASC specialist, an EAL team and a Speech and Language team.

Students are able to access The Hub during social times as a safe and quiet space, and many students also have timetabled Hub lessons, where specific interventions are delivered. Timetabled lessons in The Hub are fluid and are designed around the needs of our students – some students may only access these interventions for a few weeks, whilst others may use it over a longer time frame. It depends upon the student and their needs.

We also run Hub trips and enrichment opportunities for our SEND learners to allow them to have as many experiences as possible whilst they are at President Kennedy School.

The Hub is literally a 'hub' of activity that allows our students to thrive!
