Consultation on an increase in Capacity at President Kennedy School
This consultation invites you to comment on the increase in pupil numbers and specifically the physical enlargement of President Kennedy School.
The proposal is to expand the physical capacity of President Kennedy School from its published 11-18 capacity of 1600 to 1750 to accommodate up to 150 additional pupils generated by an increase in our Published Admission Number (PAN) from 270 to 300 from September 2020.
The changes to the Admissions Policy will take effect from the beginning of the academic year 2019 and would result in a permanent increase in the school’s Published Admissions Number (PAN) from 270 to 300 from September 2019. This follows Coventry City Council’s proposals to address the shortage of secondary school places across the city expected from September 2019. The Coventry Secondary School Partnership made the decision to permanently increase the PAN for some Coventry schools, including President Kennedy School. The proposed admissions policy can be viewed on the attachments below.
A new teaching building will be required on the school’s site to cater for the additional pupil numbers. We are currently displaying the proposed site plans in Visitor Reception for anyone to view. All capital costs associated with building the new building will be funded by the Local Authority. Working closely with the Local Authority, we have ensured in detailed plans that the disruption to the school and local community will be extremely limited.

Admissions Policy Consultation
The Governing Body of President Kennedy School are consulting on proposed changes to their admissions arrangements for 2021 and a second consultation on changes to their admission arrangements for 2019.
Consultation on Admission Arrangements from September 2021
The proposed changes would take effect from the beginning of the academic year 2021. The changes proposed are:

A change has been made to the Waiting Lists section (paragraph 27). The amended wording does not change the process required to be followed, but has been updated to provide greater clarity for parents and carers who wish to remain on the school’s waiting list after the end of the autumn term in any one academic year;

Additional wording has been included to the Post 16 admissions criteria (paragraph 31) allowing for entry of up to 20 external applicants, but only should all places not be filled from within the Academy Trust;

The inclusion of the school’s catchment area as an annexe to the policy; the catchment area is currently available on the school’s website as a separate document.
