Interventions and Additional Support
We work with a large number of students to create a bespoke package to support their needs. This may include additional interventions in school, or, if necessary, an external provider. This could be throughout their whole school life, or for a fixed period of time.
The range of internal provision includes:
- Academic interventions around reading, handwriting, numeracy and literacy
- School counsellor
- Learning Mentor interventions around life skills, self awareness, emotional literacy, behaviour support
- A designated Speech and Language Space
- A designated EAL space
- Personalised support for students with autism
- Timetabled Hub lessons
- Use of the regulation room
External Support:
- SEMHL. This is work with our Social, Emotional, Mental Health and Learning practitioner. This work can focus on a range of SEMH needs from anger management to anxiety. It also can be learning based where a learning assessment is conducted to identify specific areas of strength and areas for development.
- Speech Therapy. We have a visiting Speech Therapist who is able to work with our EHCP students with a primary need in SALT. This intervention then feeds into the work our Speech and Language team do to ensure students are making the correct level of progress.
- Educational Psychologist. The Educational Psychologist focusses on a student’s learning and development. They use their knowledge and skills to help those having difficulties with learning, behaviour or social adjustment. The Educational Psychologist is also involved in the EHCP pathway.
- Neurodivergent Specialist. Our external neurodivergent specialist works with our students who are diagnosed with or who are on the pathway for a diagnosis of Autism and/or ADHD. This work compliments the work done by our internal ASC specialist for students who need that little bit more support.
