Careers Education, Information, Advice and Guidance

At President Kennedy School, we aim to ensure that our students are given the tools, skills and knowledge to not only achieve academic success, but also, to be prepared for the world of work, higher education or apprenticeships. We want to ensure that our students are fully prepared to achieve and progress to the next stage in their lives with confidence.

President Kennedy School is dedicated to providing a coherent and progressive programme of careers education which is informative, relevant and personalised. We are committed to providing impartial careers education, information, advice and guidance (CEIAG).

The careers education programme at President Kennedy School, from Year 7 to Post 16 aims to promote student aspirations and enables students to develop their careers knowledge, understanding and insight into the world of work.

The aim of the website is to provide parents and students access to a range of information which will enable students to make informed choices about their future learning and career pathways.  Our primary tool for providing resources and information is unifrog.  All students have been provided with access and parents are encouraged to visit the site with their children.

We are constantly looking to improve our provision and as an Academy; we use the Compass tool to assess and improve our work towards the Gatsby Benchmarks of best practice and will continue to develop our CEIAG to help us meet all of the Gatsby Benchmarks by 2022.

The eight Gatsby benchmarks of Good Career Guidance

1. A stable careers programme

2. Learning from career and labour market information

3. Addressing the needs of each pupil

4. Linking curriculum learning to careers

5. Encounters with employers and employees

6. Experiences of workplaces

7. Encounters with further and higher education

8. Personal guidance
