River Cottage Episode Filmed In School

Television crews were back in school this week, this time featuring our gardeners working with Hugh Fearnley-Whittingstall and the Woodland Trust for an edition of Channel 4’s  “River Cottage”. The programme which will be screened in October, will feature Hugh, working with ‘inspirational teacher’ Mrs Coward and our year 7 and 8 gardeners, planting and harvesting in our lovingly tended gardens and preparing tasty treats with the produce.

One of our green fingered students, Daniela was named the Key Stage 3 RHS Young Gardener of the Year last week and was interviewed live on the Annie Oathen show on BBC Coventry & Warwickshire Radio. Daniela, was presented with her award by Hugh, who had also brought along a signed copy of his new book for her.

Mrs Coward commented, “working with Channel 4 film crew was a fascinating experience for our students. We are quite overwhelmed with the recognition of our work and I am delighted that Daniela has achieved a prestigious award.”
