Maths GCSE Results Exceed Expectations
Last week many of our year 11 students were celebrating a fantastic set of GCSE Maths results. The second cohort of the year, these results have brought the school’s total to a record breaking 74%
gaining a grade C or higher; even before our remaining cohort take their exams in June.
Two students delighted with their early results are Danna and Brandon. Brandon said, “I want to study Business and ICT in Post 16. I am very pleased with my result, because I’m now one step closer to getting into sixth form”. Brandon is now studying hard to pass his English examinations and secure his place.
Danna is hoping to study medicine at university and fulfil her dream of becoming a doctor. She achieved an A*. Danna said: “Maths is my weakest subject, which is why I am so happy to have achieved an A*. My teachers helped me so much; they even stayed behind every night after school to give me extra support. I couldn’t have done it without them, which is why I just want to say a big thank you to Mr Jenkins and Mr
Maycock for all their help and tuition”.
Last year, the percentage of our students achieving a grade C or higher in maths reached 70%; so 74% means that we have already broken that record. Mrs Dhanani (left), who heads up the Maths Department commented “we are truly delighted with this latest set of results and thrilled for our students who have worked so hard to achieve their target grades. Examination papers are noticeably tougher this year, but we have planned for this and I would like to thank my staff who gave up time in the evenings and in their holidays to ensure students got the extra help they needed.”
Good luck to all our Year 11 students with your revision and congratulations to those students that now have secured their maths GSCE.
