Year 7 Team WIN Book Bout Award
On Friday 1st February, 5 students from Year 7 took part in the annual Coventry Inspiration Book Awards Book Bout at Finham Park School. Competing against other Coventry Secondary Schools the team delivered a presentation depicting the book “The Weight of Water” by Sarah Crossan. Kim Pfahler narrated the story using poetry, while Neha Gupta, Libby Bayton-Timms, Lavleen Gill and Lucy Tinkler danced the theme. The presentation was written and choreographed by the students themselves under the guidance of our Library Staff.
After all the schools had performed their presentations, President Kennedy School was voted Best Presentation by the judges. Joy Court from the Schools Library Service said that they were “all moved by the unique performance.”
On 1st February, Coventry Inspiration Book Awards posted: “Fantastic presentations today … but a wonderful modern dance interpretation of Weight of Water with their own poetic commentary, really captured the essence of that amazing book. So well done Year 7’s from President Kennedy—well deserved win for you!”
Author Sarah Crossman (right) commented: “YAY PK! I taught there 2002-2003. WOW I’m SO proud! I want to see this dance!
