Post 16 To Launch Innovative New Curriculum

On 5th December, Leader of Post 16, Mr Mort will be launching an exciting an innovative approach to education for 16-18 here at President Kennedy School. In addition to its celebrated A level and university applications track record, Post 16 will offer distinctive vocational qualifications and training in partnership with local businesses and education providers from September next year. In 2013 the school leaving age is set to rise to 17 for current year 11 students.

All Year 11 students and their parents and carers are invited to attend the Post 16 Destinations Evening on Wednesday 5th December 6-8pm.

Students will be offered qualifications and experience geared towards Business and ICT careers in partnership with Melville, a leading events management company, and Sandvik, a global technology and engineering group. Health and Life Sciences qualifications and training will be offered in partnership with HealthTec, a leading education provider based at the Ricoh Arena.

Mr Mort commented, “Post 16 offer students a fantastic range of A level courses and lots of help with university  applications. This won’t change. From next year, students will also have the choice  to follow one of our vocational pathways which will boost their chances of securing a place on apprenticeships and employability. Significantly, the
vocational qualifications we offer also enable students to apply to university if they wish to.”
