The Sun Shines On Our Community Day!
On Saturday, hundreds of people joined us for a fabulous Community Day here at President Kennedy School. Our day was graced by two Olympic Torchbearers (Kymrun Dhami and Paul Williams) and their torches, David Moorcroft the world famous athlete and a dry, sunny day!

Students opened the day with an impressive (and loud) Olympic Procession led by the school banner and two Olympic Torches. Mrs Beaumont, our cherished Community Programme Co-ordinator, cut a ceremonial ribbon which marked the official start. Students then performed their Olympic Dance which was followed by performances from live bands, student soloists and a medally from The President Kennedy Players.
Staff, students and charity volunteers manned well over 20 stalls laden with sumptuous home made cakes and savouries, face painting, mehndi, impressive goods made by our design and technology students, a sizeable tombola and plants grown in the Bridge Garden. Mr Boxall and Mr Finney worked like trojans on their extremely popular barbeque for three and a half hours without a break.
Many sports events took place including a football competition, judo, boxing, archery, french boules and canoeing in our pool. Children were treated to inflatable play equipment, giant hamster balls, a climbing wall, a bungee run, sumo wrestling and drenching their parents with the hose from the fire engine!
A fantastic time was had by all. A HUGE THANK YOU TO ALL THOSE WHO HELPED AND CONTRIBUTED TO MAKING THE DAY SUCH A SUCCESS - YOU KNOW WHO WHO YOU ARE AND SO DO WE!
