Staff and students at Breakfast Club were joined by PC Moore on Wednesday morning for tea, toast and a cheque for £500. Mrs Matthews, HLTA Manager heard about the West Midlands Police Property Act Fund and wrote in telling them about Breakfast Club and the benefits it brings to our students. Local Police Officer, PC Moore, who is based in Holbrooks, supported the application stating that the club helped students to get their day off to a good start and enabled him to pop in for a chat occasionally allowing students to speak to a Police Officer on their own terms.
Breakfast Club runs every morning from 8am until 8.30am in the Student Support Centre. Students are guaranteed a safe, warm environment before the day starts and are supervised by experienced Student Support Staff. Drinks, toast and cereal are provided free and extras such as beans on toast and cheese on toast are available for a very small additional charge.
Students from all year groups can meet friends and chat to staff about the day ahead and anything that they may have on their mind.
Mrs Matthews said “the money will be put to good use. We can use it to buy essential equipment and donations such as this enable us to keep our service free of charge.”
