Kymrun Chosen To Carry Olympic Torch

Congratulations to Kymrun Dhami in Year 13 who has been chosen to carry the Olympic Torch this Summer.

Congratulations to Kymrun Dhami in Year 13 who has been chosen to carry the Olympic Torch this Summer. Kymrun will be taking her A Levels this June and has received offers from several top universities to study Mathematics next year.

Kymrun’s sister, Rajan Dhami who is an ex pupil of President Kennedy School and currently studying Law at Surrey University, nominated her for the honour. The two sisters are described as “extremely close” by Mrs Rawlins, Post 16 Manager. “Kymrun thoroughly deserves this honour” commented Mrs Rawlins. “She is one of our brightest students and an extremely popular member of the Post 16 community.”

Kymrun said “I am really excited. It took a while for the news to sink in. It wasn’t until I started telling my friends here in school and seeing their reaction that it started to feel real.”

Kymrun, who describes herself as “fanatical about the Olympics” got up at 3am with her sister during the Beijing Games to ensure she missed none of the action. She will carry the torch through Solihull on its way to Coventry from Birmingham on Sunday July 1st.

We will all be cheering you on Kymrun!
