Post 16 Students Have Their Sights Set on Oxford University

On Friday 7th March, Year 12 students Jake, Junaid, Dana, Samira, Tamera, Dii, William, Michael and Priya visited Oxford University to explore in depth how they may, one day, study their chosen subjects at one of the world’s most highly regarded universities. Students were given a unique insight into applying to Oxford and the criteria admissions tutors use when selecting candidates.

They took lunch in the Great Hall at Keble College (a choice venue for the Harry Potter films). After lunch the students were split into their chosen subject areas (Chemistry, Human Sciences and English) and experienced a tutorial with one of the subject staff. The English group had a tutorial on "Beowolf" and studied how the Anglo Saxon text translated into modern day.

“I hope to study English at university, and after this visit, I feel far more confident about applying to Oxford university.”  Jake, Year 12 Student

“Oxford University was a really inspiring environment. The day helped me make up my mind about applying.” Samira , Year 12 Student
