Students To Build First World War Tribute Garden At Malvern Show
For this year’s entry in the Malvern show, our student gardeners have decided to commemorate the garden to World War 1 and its fallen heroes. The name of the garden is ‘Never Forget’ and the idea is to represent the first World War in a garden. There is to be a tree in memory of the soldiers who died, with poems written by our students on it. The focal point in this garden is going to be a seating area made out of sandbags- just like the ones that were used in the trenches as a defence.
The path leading up to the seating is also going to be made of sandbags, surrounded by forget-me-not flowers on each side in memory of all those families that have lost their loved ones in the war. The whole garden is supposed to show the sorrow and pride students hold for those who have sacrificed their lives for them. Looking back at last year’s entry and all the work that was done, this year students a motivated to work even harder, and hopefully achieve a wonderful garden about such a sensitive subject to so many people around the country.
