Year 11 Students Visit Warwick University Chemistry Department
30 year 11 triple science students have visited the chemistry department at the University of Warwick. All the pupils were given the challenge of producing aspirin and paracetamol under the guidance of lab supervisors, and then later tested what they had made. The pupils were able to take advantage of the excellent range of equipment, and used techniques such as infrared spectroscopy to analyse their products.
During the day, pupils also got the opportunity to tour around the university to see all the facilities that the University of Warwick has to offer.
All pupils thoroughly enjoyed their day and the chemistry tutors from the university were extremely impressed by the inquisitive and hard-working attitude of all students involved. We hope the day has inspired many of them into a career in chemistry!
