  • World Class Schools' Quality Mark Essay Writing Competition

    Published 15/11/21

After a victorious previous year for President Kennedy School in the World Class Schools’ Quality Mark Essay Writing Competition in 2020, the annual competition returned this July for our next cohort of students.

This writing competition gives World Class students the opportunity to challenge themselves with a piece of writing centred around an intellectually provocative theme that directly affects their lives.

This year, children's author Dan Freedman created the following essay title 'How much can motivation from parents, or the important adults in your life, help or hinder your success?'

The role of parents, teachers and trusted adults in the lives of children is a big theme in Dan Freedman’s books. His latest novel, 'Unstoppable', revolves around the relationship of a father with his twins and explores the impact he has on their ultimate success, or lack thereof.

You can find this in our school library if you wish to read it!

After months of enthusiasm and determination, the following students have produced personal, sophisticated, and perceptive responses to the essay question. It has been a pleasure to read them all!

Firstly, I would like to say an enormous well done to the following students from Years 8, 9 and 10: Jessica Berry, Julia Puzio, Mithula Pushpamohan, Cordellia Akata and Michael Akata. All of you should be incredibly proud of the work that you have produced.

I can confirm that essays written by the following students from both Years 8 and 9 - Finlay Lomas, Abshara Piratheeban and Arya Bassi - were formally submitted in the hope that President Kennedy School will come out on top once more.

  • President Kennedy School Welcomes WCS Associate

    Published 19/10/21

President Kennedy School has been accredited with World Class status for a number of years, due to the high quality education we offer to our students.

The World Class Schools' Quality Mark organisation assesses students against a framework of World Class characteristics: leaders, learners, commitment to achievement, workplace, community and knowledge and understanding. These are traits that our students, as young people, need to flourish and thrive.

The organisation provides unique, real-life work experiences, access to a lifelong peer support network and cultural opportunities that can take you beyond your local community, giving you the confidence to overcome any barriers to achieving your true potential.

Having taken on a new World Class Associate role this year, Miss Tovey, will mean that our students have even more opportunities to participate in WCS ventures, such as assessments and competitions that will enrich their character even further. Coming soon is a World Class Schools' club that any student from any year group can join. This will enable students of this school, to make a difference in the community that they serve, through communicating with other students on what you are passionate about beyond the walls of the classroom. A space to share your ideas and to make a change in the world.

If you are eager to be involved in World Class Schools, you can join the Alumni Association now by going onto the World Class Schools' website: https://www.worldclass-schools.org/

Alternatively, if you are participating in World Class School activities outside of school, please contact: toveyh@pks.coventry.sch.uk          toveyh@pks.coventry.sch.uk where you can take part in this year's re-accreditation!

It is World Class students that make World Class Schools!

  • Open Evening 2021 - PLEASE DO NOT VISIT THE SCHOOL. THIS IS A VIRTUAL EVENT ONLY. Thank you.

    Published 09/09/21

    Open Evening 2021

We would like to extend a warm welcome to our ‘Virtual’ Open Evening webpage.

Unfortunately, due to Government guidance on large gatherings, we are unable to host our usual Open Evening event at school and meet you all personally. However, I am sure you will find our new website page informative and reassuring for you as parents, as you start to make decisions on your child’s education and school career.

Here at President Kennedy School we understand this is such an important decision for you as parents and that is why we have invested so heavily in ‘The Bridge’, our dedicated Year 7 school. The Bridge has been welcoming students for the last 10 years and during this time it has been widely praised by parents, the educational press, OFSTED and education specialists for setting the national standard for transition between primary school and secondary school.

We regularly host visitors from schools all over the country. The Bridge’s team of specialist staff have developed a reputation for providing the very best educational environment for each and every one of our students. The Bridge provides a safe, nurturing and personalised educational experience which ensures that academic progress is at the heart of its provision.

Please take the time to explore our Open Evening website page where you will find out what The Bridge offers and become familiar with The Bridge staff. More importantly, you will hear what students themselves say about their transition experience and how The Bridge has helped them to grow and develop into exceptional and confident young people.

We will update this webpage every week, so please check this page regularly.

We are more than aware why attending an Open Evening is so important, not only for you as parents but for the students themselves. It provides you with an opportunity to have a ‘feel’ for our school, where you can feel the honesty, passion and warmth that radiates naturally from our students and staff.  We will try our best to provide you with this experience.

On Thursday 23rd September, you will be able to access a presentation by myself and Mrs Alexander-Weller (Director of the Bridge) and listen to Post 16 students talk about their incredible school journey, and, last year’s Bridge students too. Information on how to access this will be posted on the school Open Evening website page very soon.

We hope that you find our new Open Evening website page informative and enjoyable, and that it helps support an important decision for you as parents/carers. Please do not hesitate to contact us if you require any further information.

    Yours faithfully,

Mr N Clayton - Head Teacher
