Year 10 GCSE P.E Group Visit Loughborough University
On Tuesday 7th March, 21 year 10 GCSE P.E students visited Loughborough University as part of their GCSE P.E course.
To start the day, students were given a guided tour of the top class sporting facilities currently used by members of Team GB. The students were also lucky enough to spot double Olympic gold medallist Adam Peaty, on his way out of the Aquatic Centre after his morning training session.
After the tour, students took part in a series of workshops, designed to enhance their knowledge and understanding of topics such as sports nutrition and fitness testing. During the sessions, students were given the opportunity to make their own isotonic sports drink and test their power and speed through participation in a series of fitness tests.
The day concluded with a presentation by Francesca Hall, member of the team GB triathlon team, who provided an insight into life as an elite athlete. Overall, the day provided an excellent opportunity for our students to develop an understanding of life as a student at Loughborough University, but also provided them with vital course specific support which will become imperative during exam season.
