National Union of Teachers - 5th July Strike Action
Strike Action Tuesday 5th July 2016
We have been advised by the National Union of Teachers that their members are proposing to take strike action on Tuesday 5th July 2016 to protect pay and working conditions. The strike demands are to increase funding to schools and education, guarantee terms and conditions in all types of schools, and to resume negotiations on teacher contracts to allow workload to be addressed.
Having carefully considered the position in our school (including the educational, operational, health and safety implications), only students in years 7 and 10 should attend.
Students in years 8 and 9 who have paid for a school meal on the day affected by the strike action will be credited for the meal which will be unavailable on 5th July 2016.
Please note that this action is not taken lightly and has only been taken after consultation with the Board of Trustees.
