‘Lawyers in Schools’ Programme

On Monday a group of Year 9 students had an hour long session with a David Murray, who is a practising Lawyer with Murray and Brankin Law Firm. He is the president of the Warwickshire Law Society and has become a partner with President Kennedy School through the “Lawyers in Schools program” organised by the Citizen Foundation.

The main focus of the session was to introduce and discuss legal issues. Students learnt about the reasons why we have law, who is involved in the legal world and the difference between civil and criminal law. Students learnt a lot in the session and for some, it has increased their enthusiasm to pursue a career in law.

It was a great experience and has inspired me to look at some possible careers for the future; it gave me a much deeper understanding of the law and my own rights.”                                                                                   Sabah Rehman, Year 9 student

The session has really increased my general knowledge on law and how people are convicted.  I recently took part in the Mock Trial competition and this was a great follow on from that”                                            Lachwinder Singh, Year 9 Student
