U14 Girls Football Team Win West Midlands Cup!

On Wednesday night President Kennedy School’s U14 Girls Football team played in the Final of the West Midlands Cup against Bishop Challenor at Coventry Sporting FC.

Having already lost to Bishop earlier in the season, this was always going to be a tough fixture.

President Kennedy School made a bright start and opened the scoring through Taya Cumberbatch, Bishop Challenor began to come into the game and were soon level, things got worse for President Kennedy School as Bishop Challenor took the lead and Reia Henry had to leave the field injured, however her replacement Jess Flavell scored with her first touch to make it 2-2. In this frantic first half, there was still time for Lillie Palmer to strike a volley into the net to give us a 3-2 lead.

The second half was fought mainly in the midfield with limited chances for both sides, as Bishop, they pushed for the equaliser. We hit them with a classic counter, started in our own box and finished by Taya for a final score of President Kennedy School 4 - Bishop Challenor 2.

Back to Back wins for the girls football team, who will be hoping to secure the hat trick next year.

Player of the match Freya Thomas and Sophie Shale.
