Former Student Exhibiting at the Royal Society of Portrait Painters
Former student, Jonathan Sundaram, is to have a portrait painted by him exhibited at the Mall Galleries, in London as a part of the Royal Society of Portrait Painters Annual exhibition.
The main exhibition comprises approximately 220 works and is in two parts: a cohort of work by members and by non-member artists who have successfully competed to be included in the show. The exhibition aims to include the best of a wide variety of styles in painted and drawn media.
In a letter addressed to President Kennedy School’s Head of Art, Mr Syed, he mentions how grateful he is for the support whilst studying here..
“...I just wanted to let you know that a portrait painting I entered made it through the Royal Society of Portrait Painters Exhibition completion and will be exhibiting at Mall Galleries. This is the first gallery my artwork will be hanging in but hopefully not the last…….. (I thought I would let you both know about this, as you were very influential on my art education whilst I was at President Kennedy School and provided a lot of support …..”
He went on to say:
“…...Mr Sayed you are the first person and only person so far to give me a lesson using oil paintings, so a massive thank you for introducing me to that! Mrs Gallagher thank you for being such a great art teacher from year 7 till year 11. I remember you introducing portraiture for the first time and I remember you saying ‘...most of you will hate this, but, after doing it for a year, some of you will be focusing on drawing and painting portraiture..’, and I would say I am one of those in that fell into that category, thank you ”.
