EAL Conference - Showcasing Outstanding Training for Warwick University Aspiring Teachers

Congratulations to Warwick University for achieving an OUTSTANDING judgement from OFSTED for their Secondary Teacher Training faculty. For yet another year, Warwick have chosen to use President Kennedy School in order to support the development of all of their trainees.

Shifts in local communities have had an important impact on teaching and learning in schools in the U.K. One in seven pupils are learning English as an additional language (EAL) and their future achievement in the education system will be determined by how successful they are in learning English.

This month we have hosted nearly 200 aspiring teachers from Warwick to train, discuss and showcase the best practice which is common place at President Kennedy School. Led by Mrs Hinchliffe, Mr Keshwara, Mrs Haynes and Mr Gedrim, the trainees were able to hear about, see and put into practice with our students some strategies to allow them to develop as teachers. Feedback about the school and specifically the students here was glowing.

“I just wanted to say a heartfelt thank you for your hospitality and sharing your expertise into EAL in your Outstanding school.
It really was a valuable experience, with your staff and your students are absolutely inspiriting as a trainee teacher
.”

Thank you and a huge well done to all the President Kennedy School students involved.
