Oxford University Maths Faculty Work With Our Students

Maths Lecturers from Oxford University have been in school working with a sizeable group of our high attaining year 10 and 11 students. The lecturers, who each specialised in either pure maths or statistical science, gave a one hour lecture incorporating forecasting events including the spatial spread of the Ebola virus. Students were introduced to a range of challenging mathematical problems including proofs and worked with Oxford’s lecturers in a fun and engaging manner to find solutions.

Interacting with the lecturers, students were able to find out more about studying maths at one of the world’s top universities and explore the process of winning a place there. Mrs Dhanani, Leader of Maths commented, “the impact that the Oxford lecturers have had on our students and their learning today has been impressive. I am pleased that our relationship with Oxford University is set to continue and our Post 16 students will be visiting them next week”.
