Centre Stage at the Guildhall

Back in January, our Year 7 team took part in the annual Book Bout competition, which was held at  the President Kennedy School library. Their interpretation of Gillian Cross's "After Tomorrow" which took the form of a video game, wowed all the other schools, as well as the judges. The successful students walked away with the award for the Best Presentation.

Fast forward a couple of months and after some tough competition via the Coventry Inspiration Book Awards website, Gillian's book emerged victorious in the 11 - 14 category. Our amazing Year 7s were invited to the awards ceremony at the Guildhall in Coventry where their video would be shown to a wide audience and they would have the chance to meet the author of their winning presentation, Gillian Cross.

Last Wednesday saw most of our team at the Guildhall, where Toni and Molly spoke powerfully about this amazing book and the audience enjoyed a video of their innovative interpretation of Gillian Cross's award-winning novel. The girls had the chance to chat with Gillian afterwards - she was thrilled with their hard work and was really impressed by the maturity and dedication of our Year 7 students. For the past three years our Bridge students have represented President Kennedy School at these awards - we hope next year's new Year 7s will carry on this proud tradition.
